| The Nielsen poll shows Labor Written by Alex , on 06-02-2008 04:26 The Nielsen poll shows Labor with a clear lead — 45-37 per cent — when people are asked which party has the better policies for Australia. It also leads (43-38 per cent) in response to the question of which party has "better policies for you". People were divided over which side had the superior tax policy — 36 per cent said Labor and 33 per cent the Coalition. The low figures reflect the confusion over complicated policies, which share a large common element. Labor's primary vote in the poll is 47 per cent; the Coalition is on 41 per cent; the Greens have 7 per cent. Kevin Rudd held a commanding lead over John Howard as preferred PM — 53 per cent to 39 per cent. Pollster John Stirton said the numbers showed what a strong position Labor was in as it moved towards the third week of the campaign. |
